Apr 05, 2007 · Can anyone comment on the difference between the machinability of A572 versus A36. We are currently turning a part made of A36, the machine shop is finding that it is excessively gummy to the point where they have to replace inserts. A572 is similar in price and meets the yield strength criteria, but I am unsure on the machinabilty of the material.
